GE Profile French Door Bottom Freezer Refrigerators
by Sue
(Philadelphia, PA)
This
GE Profile French door refrigerator was purchased 3-4 years ago and is having the following problems:
- The right-hand door insulation keeps the left side door from closing unless it is open first.
- Ice maker and water in the door has never worked.
- The electronics board broke two months ago.
- The compressor broke this week.
We were advised this was a
product with a horrible reputation due to bottom freezer issues causing compressor failures and the electronics boards needing frequent replacements.
Our repair person, who had no affiliation with a store
, advised us to toss the GE unit and purchase a Whirlpool top freezer or side by side for nearly the same price as replacing the current fridge's compressor.
The exact model number is PFS22MIS or PFS22SIS, which cost us over $1100 at Sears.
