Hotpoint side-by-side refrigerator Model #HSS25IFMDWW

Purchased my Hotpoint side by side HSS25IFMDWW in 2002. Everything worked great for the first 3 years.

Then, at 36 months old, the cooling coils froze up. At first I thought it was just a one time instance and once it was fixed all would get better. I'm sorry to say that this wasn't the case.

I've had that same problem recurring every 2-3yrs since - with the exact same parts needing to be replaced each time!!

After spending hundreds of $$$ on repairmen for the first 2 occurrences, I decided I needed to change this and began repairing it myself.

It's now been 13yrs of repairs and D/I/Y parts replacement. We've calculated it up and we can see now that we have spent more than the cost of the original unit in just repairs -- each and every time for the exact same problem!

One of the definitions of insanity is when you do the same thing over and over again - and expect a different result. Whether or not I need a shrink is questionable, but what isn't is the fact that we need a different make and model of refrigerator!!!

Hotpoint should know that this is a problem and have had a recall on this!
