Maytag Bottom freezer fridge (model PBB1951HEW)

I purchased my Maytag bottom freezer fridge (model PBB1951HEW) in 2005.
In 2008, that's right only 3 years old, the
timing switch completely stopped working. I lost all the contents of my fridge and freezer (which was well over $200 in lost food costs).
In 2011 the
compressor stopped working. Sadly enough it came with a 5 yr warranty but the fridge was 6 years old at the time. Again we lost all of the contents of our fridge and freezer.
I called a repairman to get a quote for repair costs of labor and parts. I was more than a bit surprised to get a
quote to fix my fridge that was honestly the price of a brand, new fridge.
Fortunately (or unfortunately) I have an older model energy guzzling fridge in the basement so that we still have a functioning refrigerator in our house - even if using it is incredibly inconvenient.
I am just now trying to have Maytag cover the repairs (repair covered for 90 days only!)
I am beyond appalled that Maytag would make such junk after building up their reputation over the years. Apparently the fridge was assembled in the USA but I'd make a large bet that the parts weren't made in the USA.
NEVER, NEVER, NEVER will I ever buy Maytag again. Click here for more on Maytag Refrigerators
