Whirlpool Freezerless Refrigerator (model# EL87TRRRQ05)

(Wake Forest, NC)

I purchased a Whirlpool Freezerless Refrigerator in 2008. In 2011 the problems began.

First water began to leak under the bins in the bottom. This was fixed pretty easily and luckily I had an extended warranty.

Six months after that and no warranty it stopped cooling completely. The tech quoted that it would cost over 500.00 and I would be better off to buy a new one.

Whirlpool customer service said there is no noted problem, parts will fail, and once it is out of warranty you are on your own.

I realize things happen but a reputable company would work to satisfy its customer. I only asked for the coil since they obviously have problems and said I would pay labor.

I don't know about you, but I expect appliance parts to last more than 3 years. They are basically a rental business with the pretense of selling. My rental cost over 300.00 per year.

They offered a coupon toward a new unit. Who in their right mind would do business with this company again?

same problem Whirlpool freezerless fridge
by: Anonymous

I bought a whirlpool freezerless fridge model#WRF57R18DM in November of 2015, in October of 2019 (less than 4 years)the fridge started malfunctioning. First, we started getting water in the bottom, but shortly after, the food started spoiling rather quickly. We used a thermometer to check the temperature and discovered the fridge was staying around 60 degrees even on the coldest setting. We had bought the extended warranty through Home Depot, but got the run-around from their warranty company. Eventually they sent a tech out and he said it was a manufacturer defect. He said one of the welds in a line near the compressor had sprung a leak and the fridge would have to be replaced. There was more evasion and run-around, and Whirlpool took NO responsibility. However, the Home Depot warranty company finally gave us a e-giftcard.
